Nach Abschluss der Genesis-Tour, die auf dem kommenden Live-Album Seconds Out dokumentiert ist, beteiligt sich Phil im Sommer als Percussionist an Aufnahmen der Formation Café Jacques, die von Rupert Hine – für den er später noch öfter tätig sein würde – produziert werden. Er lässt es sich auch nicht nehmen, für letzte Brand X-Live-Aufnahmen zum geplanten Livestock-Album die Band beim Gig im Hammersmith Odeon an den Percussions zu unterstützen und einen Monat später wieder als Haupt-Drummer neue Tracks zu spielen…
