Bereits einige Jahre bevor sich Peter Gabriel an ersten Solo-Experimenten versucht, hatte er Anfang der 70er Jahre drei kleinere Gastauftritte außerhalb seiner Band Genesis. Zum einen als Flötist auf Cat Stevens drittem Album und zum anderem gemeinsam mit seinem neuen Bandkollegen Phil Collins und anderen als Backgroundsänger auf dem Debüt-Album von Colin Scot und einem Album der Keef Hartley Band
